“How to Profit at Writing and Marketing Your Non-Fiction Magazine Articles and Books"(No.1411)
Learn how to develop marketable ideas and query magazine and book editors for their “go-ahead” before you actually begin writing. You will develop skill at analyzing magazine styles and formats so that your proposals will meet editorial requirements. Topics include how to break into writing, how the Internet has improved the freelance writer’s market, negotiating publishers' contracts, and securing all your writer’s copyrights; also pay rates and how to get better mileage out of a single good idea, plus income tax advantages. Learn how building a portfolio of your published nonfiction magazine articles will lead to higher-paying contracts for your fiction. Maximum enrollment: 25. Minimum age: 18.
